Privacy Policy

Learn how WT Free Tools collects, uses, and protects information when you use this website.

Last updated: August 14, 2026

This Privacy Policy explains how WT Free Tools collects, uses, discloses, and protects information when you visit our website, use our online tools, submit forms, create an account if accounts are offered, or interact with a WT Free Tools tool embedded on another website. It also explains privacy choices and rights that may apply depending on where you live.

1. Scope and data controller

This Privacy Policy applies to WT Free Tools websites, calculators, converters, file utilities, accounts if offered, contact and suggestion forms, content, and embedded tools that link to this Policy. It does not govern third-party sites or services that publish their own privacy notices.

For purposes of applicable privacy law, WT Free Tools is the controller of the personal information described here unless a specific feature identifies another controller. The operator’s current contact details are published on the Contact page. If applicable law requires a representative, data-protection officer, or additional controller information, those details will be provided where required.

2. Information you provide

We may collect information you choose to provide, including name, email address, account/profile information if accounts are offered, contact messages, support requests, tool suggestions, feedback, bug reports, and other information entered into forms.

If paid features are offered, payment information may be processed by a payment provider. We may receive transaction identifiers, billing status, purchase history, or limited billing details, but payment-card data may be handled directly by the payment provider rather than WT Free Tools.

3. Technical and usage information

When you use the Service, we and our providers may automatically receive technical information such as IP address, approximate location derived from IP, browser and device type, operating system, language, referring page, pages and tools used, timestamps, request identifiers, diagnostic events, cookie or similar identifiers, and security, fraud-prevention, or anti-abuse signals.

Sources of personal information may include you directly, your browser or device, a website that embeds one of our tools, authentication or payment providers if you use those features, and service providers that help us secure, measure, or operate the Service.

4. Tool inputs and local browser processing

Some tools process values, text, or files that you select. Whether WT Free Tools receives the input depends on how the specific tool works. Tools expressly described as local or browser-based are intended to process the working input on your device unless their notice clearly states otherwise.

Supported local PDF, image, video, and audio tools are intended not to upload the selected working file to our server for the conversion or editing operation. Some other tools may require server-side processing, an API, cloud storage, or another third-party service; the tool notice should identify that before relevant content is submitted.

Local file processing does not mean that the webpage makes no network requests. The page itself, content delivery, security, CAPTCHA, analytics, advertising, scripts, or other resources may still connect to servers and receive technical information.

5. Forms, CAPTCHA, accounts, and communications

When you send a contact form, suggestion, bug report, or similar request, we use the submitted fields to review the request, communicate with you, prevent abuse, and maintain a record where reasonably necessary.

We may use CAPTCHA, spam detection, fraud prevention, verification, and rate limiting. Those providers may receive IP address, browser/device data, interaction signals, and identifiers needed to evaluate whether a request is legitimate.

If accounts are offered, we may process registration data, authentication identifiers, account settings, language preferences, account activity, and security logs to authenticate users and protect and provide account features.

6. How and why we use information

We use personal information to provide requested tools and features; operate, secure, troubleshoot, and maintain the Service; answer support and contact requests; manage accounts; detect spam, fraud, attacks, and abuse; measure performance and usage; improve tools and user experience; remember settings; administer advertising and consent choices; process purchases if offered; enforce our Terms; comply with legal obligations; and protect users, the public, our rights, and our systems.

We may use aggregated or de-identified information for analytics, research, quality measurement, product development, and reporting where the information is no longer reasonably linkable to an identifiable person under applicable law.

7. Legal bases in the EEA and United Kingdom

Where the GDPR or UK GDPR applies, the legal basis depends on the purpose. Contract or steps requested before entering a contract may apply when processing is necessary to provide an account or paid feature you request. Legitimate interests may apply to operating, securing, debugging, measuring, improving, and protecting the Service, provided those interests are not overridden by your rights. Consent may apply to non-essential cookies, personalized advertising, certain analytics, or optional communications. Legal obligation may apply where law requires us to process or retain information.

Where we rely on consent, you may withdraw it at any time for future processing. Where we rely on legitimate interests, you may have a right to object depending on the circumstances.

8. Cookies, local storage, and similar technologies

We may use cookies, local storage, pixels, tags, SDKs, or similar technologies for strictly necessary functionality, authentication, security, language or preference settings, consent records, analytics, advertising, and measurement.

Where applicable law requires consent for non-essential storage or access technologies, those technologies are used only after the required consent or other legally valid permission has been obtained. Our cookie/privacy controls are intended to let you manage available categories and change choices. Strictly necessary technologies may operate without consent where permitted by law.

Browser settings can block or delete certain technologies, but doing so may affect functionality. Choices made in one browser or device may not automatically apply to another.

9. Analytics, advertising, sale/share, and targeted advertising

We may use analytics and advertising providers to understand usage, measure performance, prevent abuse, deliver or measure advertisements, and fund free tools. Depending on configuration, providers may receive IP address, browser/device information, cookie or advertising identifiers, page/tool interactions, approximate location, and referral information.

We do not sell personal information for money. However, some laws may classify disclosures of identifiers or online activity to advertising partners for cross-context behavioral or targeted advertising as a “sale,” “sharing,” or targeted advertising even when no money is exchanged. Where such laws apply to WT Free Tools, eligible users may use the privacy choices/opt-out mechanism made available on the site.

Where required by applicable law, we honor a valid Global Privacy Control (GPC) signal as an opt-out of sale, sharing, or targeted advertising for the browser or device sending the signal. Advertising providers may also offer their own privacy and ad controls.

10. Embedded tools

If you use a WT Free Tools tool embedded on another website, your browser may connect directly to WT Free Tools to load the tool and related resources. We may receive IP address, browser/device information, date/time, referring or embedding domain, tool identifier, diagnostic events, and security signals.

The embedding website may separately collect information and is responsible for its own privacy practices. If analytics, advertising, cookies, or other non-essential storage are used in connection with an embed, consent or opt-out requirements may apply depending on jurisdiction and configuration.

11. How we disclose information

We may disclose information to service providers and processors that help with hosting, content delivery, security, email, support, CAPTCHA, analytics, advertising, payment processing if offered, error monitoring, and other operational services. They may process information only as allowed by their agreements and applicable law.

We may disclose information when reasonably necessary to comply with law, legal process, court orders, regulatory or lawful government requests; investigate fraud, abuse, or security incidents; protect rights, property, safety, users, or systems; or as part of a merger, acquisition, financing, restructuring, insolvency, or transfer of all or part of the Service, subject to applicable law.

We may also disclose information at your direction or with your consent.

12. International data transfers

WT Free Tools and its service providers may operate in more than one country, so personal information may be processed outside the country where you live.

Where the GDPR, UK GDPR, Australian Privacy Act, or another law requires safeguards for international transfers, we use an applicable legal transfer mechanism or recognized protection when required, such as an adequacy decision, contractual safeguards, or another permitted mechanism. The countries and safeguards depend on the providers actually used.

13. Data retention

We retain personal information only for as long as reasonably necessary for the purpose for which it was collected, including providing the Service, security and fraud prevention, resolving requests, maintaining records of consent or legal compliance, handling disputes, and meeting legal obligations.

Retention varies by category. Contact/support records may be kept for the period reasonably needed to resolve and document the request; account data may be retained while an account is active and for a reasonable period afterward; security logs are generally kept for an operational period unless needed longer for an incident, investigation, or legal requirement; consent and privacy-request records may be kept as needed to demonstrate compliance.

Tool inputs and files that remain solely on your device through local processing are not retained by us as tool content.

14. Security

We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational measures designed to protect personal information against unauthorized access, loss, misuse, alteration, or disclosure. Measures may include access controls, encryption in transit where appropriate, monitoring, rate limiting, backups, and provider security controls.

No website, network, browser, or storage system is completely secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security. You are also responsible for protecting your device, browser, credentials, and copies of files.

15. General privacy rights and requests

Depending on your location and applicable law, you may have rights to request access, correction, deletion, restriction, portability, information about processing, withdrawal of consent, objection to certain processing, opt-out of certain advertising uses, or review of certain automated decisions. You may also have the right to complain to a privacy regulator.

Rights are not absolute and may be subject to exceptions, identity verification, or legal retention requirements. We may request information reasonably necessary to verify your identity or authority. Where prohibited by law, we will not discriminate against you for exercising a privacy right.

16. EEA and United Kingdom rights

If the GDPR or UK GDPR applies, you may have rights of access, rectification, erasure, restriction, data portability, objection, and withdrawal of consent. UK users may complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO); EEA users may complain to the competent data-protection authority in their Member State.

If we ever use solely automated decision-making that produces legal or similarly significant effects and the law grants specific rights, we will provide the required disclosures and safeguards. Ordinary WT Free Tools calculators generally provide user-requested informational output rather than making decisions about users on our behalf.

17. United States and California disclosures

Depending on the state and whether a privacy law applies to WT Free Tools, users may have rights to know/access, correct, delete, obtain a portable copy, and opt out of certain sale, sharing, targeted advertising, or profiling.

For California residents, categories we may collect can include identifiers such as IP address, email, account or device identifiers; internet/electronic network activity; approximate geolocation derived from IP; commercial information if a paid feature is purchased; and information submitted in communications. Purposes include providing and securing the Service, support, analytics, improvement, advertising, fraud prevention, payments if applicable, and legal compliance.

We do not sell personal information for money. If advertising-related disclosures constitute “selling” or “sharing” under California law, eligible users may opt out through the privacy choices offered by the site, and we honor valid GPC signals where required. We do not knowingly sell or share personal information of consumers we know are under 16 without the authorization required by law. We do not offer a financial incentive for personal information unless a separate notice describing the program is presented.

18. Canada

Where Canadian privacy law such as PIPEDA applies, we seek to identify appropriate purposes, limit collection to what is reasonably needed, respect applicable consent requirements, safeguard information, and provide access and correction rights as required.

You may contact us to request access or correction or to raise a privacy concern. Where applicable, you may also complain to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada or the competent provincial regulator.

19. Australia

Where the Australian Privacy Act and Australian Privacy Principles apply, we aim to handle personal information openly and transparently, collect only information reasonably necessary for our functions, provide access and correction where required, and take reasonable steps to protect information.

If personal information is likely to be disclosed to overseas recipients and applicable law requires identification of those locations, we will provide the countries where practicable based on the service providers actually used. Eligible users may complain to us and, where appropriate, the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC).

20. Children’s privacy

The Service is not directed to children under 13 and we do not knowingly seek to collect personal information from children under 13 in a manner requiring parental consent under COPPA without obtaining that authorization. If we learn that such information was collected without required authorization, we will take reasonable steps to delete it.

Where another jurisdiction sets a higher age threshold for consent to online data processing, we apply the requirements that are legally applicable to the relevant processing. Parents or guardians who believe a child submitted personal information may contact us.

21. Sensitive personal information

Do not submit passwords, financial account credentials, government identifiers, detailed medical records, biometric data, or highly confidential business information unless a specific feature clearly requires it, explains the processing, and you are authorized to provide it.

Values entered into financial calculators may themselves be sensitive in context. Prefer local/browser-based tools where available and avoid identifying information that is not necessary for the calculation. Where applicable law grants a right to limit certain uses of sensitive personal information, we will honor that right when it applies to our processing.

22. Automated calculations and profiling

Many tools automatically calculate a result from values you choose to enter. This type of user-requested calculation is generally not intended to make a legal or similarly significant decision about you on behalf of WT Free Tools.

If we later use personal information for regulated profiling or automated decision-making, we will provide any additional notices, opt-outs, assessments, explanations, or rights required by applicable law.

23. Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control

Browser “Do Not Track” signals are not interpreted consistently across the industry, and we may not respond unless required by law. Global Privacy Control is a separate opt-out preference signal. Where applicable law requires recognition of a valid GPC signal, we honor it for the browser or device from which it is received.

24. Third-party links and services

Our website may link to third-party sites, apps, advertisers, or services. Their privacy practices are governed by their own policies. Review their policies before providing personal information.

25. Changes to this Policy and contact

We may update this Policy to reflect changes in tools, providers, advertising, law, security, or business operations. The current version will be posted with the updated date. Where required by law, we will provide additional notice or obtain consent before a material new use.

For privacy questions or to exercise an applicable privacy right, use the contact details published on the WT Free Tools Contact page, state that the request concerns privacy, and describe the right you wish to exercise. If applicable law gives you a right to appeal a decision on a privacy request, you may submit the appeal through the same contact method and identify the prior request.
